Six things that separate an honest IT equipment quote from one designed to look cheap. Most of the cost hides below the unit price.
Equipment quotes are easy to manipulate because buyers compare unit prices and ignore everything else. Here's what to check.
1. Is the warranty in your name?
Some suppliers register warranties to themselves so you have to go through them for every claim. Ask for the registration confirmation.
2. What exactly is the model number?
"Core i7" spans six generations and a 3× performance range. Insist on the full SKU.
3. Is setup included, and what does setup mean?
Delivery to reception is not deployment. Confirm whether imaging, domain join, data migration and user handover are included.
4. What's the lead time, in writing?
"In stock" should mean in a warehouse you can name today, not on a ship.
5. Who handles a DOA unit?
Dead-on-arrival hardware is normal at volume. What's not normal is the buyer chasing the manufacturer.
6. What happens to the old equipment?
Certified data destruction is a legal exposure, not a courtesy. Get the certificate.
